| Beschrijving keerzijde | Eagle standing facing with wings spread, head turned to the right, displayed in a bold and commanding composition typical of Syrian provincial coinage. Between the eagle's legs, a small figure or symbol is visible in the lower field. The circular Greek legend ΔΗΜΑΡΧ ΕΞ ΥΠΑΤΟ Δ surrounds the type, recording Caracalla's tribunician power and his fourth consulship. The flan is slightly irregular in shape, consistent with hand-struck provincial tetradrachms of the Antioch mint. The overall style reflects the strong local engraving tradition of the eastern Roman provinces. |
