Reverse description Standing figure, identifiable as Elpis (Hope) or a comparable deity, depicted in left-facing stance with characteristic attributes, rendered in the somewhat schematic style typical of late Alexandrian provincial coinage. The field carries the regnal year date in Greek numerals. The date legend LΔ appears in the field, denoting Year 4 of Aurelianus's reign in Egypt (272–273 AD). The reverse flan is irregular with flat areas consistent with the hammered technique of the period.
