Obverse description Bare, laureate head of Augustus facing right, rendered in finely detailed high relief characteristic of the Antiochene mint. The emperor's hair is rendered with carefully articulated curls beneath the laurel wreath, with ribbon ties visible at the nape. The portrait displays a youthful, idealised effigy consistent with Augustan court iconography. The circular Greek legend KAIΣΑΡΟΣ ΣΕΒΑΣΤΟΥ runs along the periphery, flanking the portrait to right and left within a slightly irregular flan.
