Obverse description A griffin seated to the left in high relief, with its eagle head raised and beak open, powerful lion-like body, and large swept wings spread upward and to the right. The creature rests on its haunches with one forepaw raised, rendered with fine detail in the feathering of the wings and the musculature of the body. A small circular symbol, possibly a letter or control mark, appears to the right of the griffin in the field. The design is contained within a circular border on a plain, slightly granular field typical of Thracian Greek coinage of this period.
