Obverse description Youthful bare head of Herakles facing right, portrayed in the Lysippan tradition with idealized features and slightly parted lips, wearing the Nemean lion-skin headdress whose scalp and forelegs are draped over the crown and temples. The mane and pelt of the lion skin are rendered with fine, flowing engraving, with the lion's open jaws positioned atop the hero's head. The portrait is executed in a late Hellenistic style characteristic of posthumous Alexandrine coinage, with the feline claws just visible at the neck, filling the field to the right. No legend appears on the obverse.

Reverse description Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned left on a backless throne, his body draped from the waist, holding an eagle on his outstretched right hand and a long sceptre in his raised left hand. In the left field, a monogram appears above a sphinx seated left upon a horizontal amphora, serving as the civic badge of Chios. The magistrate's name ΑΣΤΥΤΙΜΟΣ appears in the exergue, while the dynastic legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs along the right field. The composition follows the canonical posthumous Alexandrine reverse type with Chiot civic symbols identifying the issuing mint.
