Artaxerxes III reconquered Egypt in 343 BC after a decade of failed Persian attempts, ending the Thirtieth Dynasty and installing Pherendates as satrap. The re-occupation lasted barely six years before Alexander's arrival unraveled Achaemenid control entirely. Coinage struck under the satrapy during this window is correspondingly rare — the political situation was too unstable and the Persian tenure too brief to generate substantial mint output.
