| Reverse description | Nike, the winged goddess of Victory, seated left on a throne, holding a wreath in her extended right hand and a palm branch in her left. A small figure, possibly an eagle or an emblem, appears at the base of the throne. The Greek royal legend is inscribed vertically in two columns flanking the central figure, reading ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΡΣΑΚΟΥ on the right and ΘΕΟΠΑΤΟΡΟΣ on the left. Below the throne, in the exergue, appears the Seleucid era date ΗΠΡ (188 in Greek numerals, corresponding to 125 BC). The composition reflects the Hellenistic artistic tradition maintained by the Arsacid dynasty. |
