Obverse description Cista mystica depicted in three-quarter view at center, its lid partially open with a serpent emerging and coiling around the basket's cylindrical body. The cista rests on a low base, rendered with fine vertical striations conveying wicker-work texture. The entire design is enclosed within a broad ivy wreath composed of alternating ivy leaves, berries, and grape clusters arranged symmetrically around the circumference of the flan. No legend appears on the obverse, the wreath border serving as the sole framing device in the characteristic cistophoric tradition.
