| Obverse description | Youthful, beardless head of Heracles facing right, enveloped in the Nemean lion-skin headdress, with the scalp drawn over the crown and the forepaws knotted at the throat. The facial features are rendered in the Hellenistic portrait tradition, exhibiting finely modelled cheekbones and full lips. Curling locks of hair emerge from beneath the lion-skin at the temple and nape. The design is enclosed within a dotted border, and the paws of the lion skin are visible at the lower truncation. |
