Obverse description Diademed head of Antiochos III facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic portrait tradition with finely modelled features, a prominent straight nose, and a slightly parted mouth. The royal diadem is tied at the nape of the neck, with the ribbon ends falling behind. The hair is rendered in naturalistic, tightly curled locks swept back from the brow, framing the face in a style reminiscent of portraits of Alexander the Great. The portrait is set within a smooth, wide field with no legend, displaying the refined die-cutting characteristic of the Antioch on the Orontes mint.
