附加信息

Antiochos II inherited a kingdom at war — his reign began with the ongoing Second Syrian War against Ptolemy II, and the epithet "Theos" (god) was reportedly granted to him by the Milesians after he expelled a tyrant from their city, not by royal decree. The tetradrachm series of his reign was struck across a wide network of mints spanning from Asia Minor to Mesopotamia, making attribution to specific mint cities a persistent challenge for specialists even with the SC1 corpus as a framework.

SC 577.1 falls within the Antioch-on-the-Orontes attribution. Antiochos II died in 246 BC under disputed circumstances — possibly poisoned by his first wife Laodike after he had set aside her in favor of Berenike of Egypt.
