Obverse description Head of Herakles facing right, wearing the Nemean lion scalp headdress, the lion's mane rendered in flowing, naturalistic curls that frame the hero's youthful visage. The jaw clasp of the lion skin is visible at the neck. The portrait is executed in the fine Hellenistic style characteristic of the Alexander coinage tradition, with strong facial modeling and bold relief. The design is contained within a dotted border.
