Antialkidas ruled from Taxila, one of the few Indo-Greek kings whose reign is corroborated by both numismatic evidence and a contemporary inscription — the Heliodorus pillar at Vidisha, erected by his ambassador to the Shunga court around 110 BC. That diplomatic mission suggests a kingdom still capable of projecting influence well into the subcontinent, even as Bactrian power to the northwest was collapsing under Saka and Yueh-chih pressure. The epithet Nikephoros, "victory-bearer," was a deliberate piece of Hellenistic political branding.
