| Beschrijving keerzijde | Schematized South Arabian imitation of the head of Athena as found on Athenian new-style or classical tetradrachms, rendered in a heavily abstracted local idiom. The obverse prototype's helmet is suggested by a broad raised band of pellets and a crest of vertical strokes across the upper field. The face is depicted in a highly stylized manner with curving incised lines representing the facial features, flanked by flowing hair rendered as sweeping parallel curves to the right. A small circular motif with a central pellet appears in the lower central field. The flan's irregular, folded surface imparts a pronounced convexity and rough outline to the type. |
