Obverse description A griffin in dynamic leaping pose to left, rendered in high relief with fine archaic detail. The creature displays a prominent hooked beak, an erect spike atop the head, and a carefully engraved mane along the neck. The large, spread wings are articulated with incised feather lines, and the muscular leonine hindquarters and forepaws are depicted in a crouching-spring attitude. The entire design occupies a plain, slightly concave field characteristic of Abderite hammered coinage.
