| 背面描述 | A large crab depicted facing, with detailed claws and legs spread symmetrically across the field, serving as the principal civic symbol of Kos. The ethnic legend ΚΩΙΟΝ is arranged around the upper portion of the crab, while the magistrate's name ΑΛΚΙΜΑΧΟΣ appears in the lower field beneath the crab. A dotted border encircles the design, and a plain exergual line separates the lower inscription from the crab's body. |

Kos operated under Hecatomnid influence during the mid-fourth century, and the island's coinage of this period reflects the transitional political pressure between Carian dynastic control and the reassertion of local civic authority following the Social War. Alkimachos is identified as a magistrate responsible for this issue, one of relatively few named officials whose tenure can be approximately bracketed by the island's shifting allegiances.
The BMC Greek 12 reference places this among a small, well-documented group — Koan tetradrachms of any magistrate series are rarely encountered outside institutional collections.
