Obverse description Facing lion's head rendered in high relief, with a boldly modeled mane radiating symmetrically around the visage in fine striated lines, conveying a powerful and naturalistic artistic style characteristic of East Greek coinage of the early fourth century BC. The lion's facial features — including the furrowed brow, broad muzzle, and slightly open mouth — are rendered with considerable sculptural detail. No legend appears on the obverse; the design fills the flan in a bold, imposing manner.
