| Beschrijving keerzijde | Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned to left, his upper body nude, a himation draped across his lap and legs, his right hand extending an eagle and his left resting on a long sceptre. The throne is rendered in schematic form with a footstool beneath. The Greek inscription ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ appears to the right and ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ to the left, in the characteristic abbreviated Celtic rendering. A helmet appears in the inner left field above the letters ΔΑ, and a monogram is placed beneath the throne. The composition faithfully derives from the Alexander III prototype while showing the simplified, slightly degenerate engraving style associated with Celtic imitative coinage. |
