Obverse description Youthful beardless head of Heracles in right profile, wearing the scalp of the Nemean lion as a headdress, with the forelegs knotted at the throat; the hero's idealised features, curling locks, and the finely rendered lion's mane filling the left field are executed in the high-relief style characteristic of early Alexandrine coinage. The coin is bordered by a continuous dotted bead-and-reel inner circle visible along the right and upper periphery of the flan.
