| Reverse description | Zeus Aetophoros enthroned left on a backless throne, his nude torso draped from the waist, holding a long sceptre upright in his left hand and extending his right hand forward upon which an eagle stands with closed wings; the legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs along the right field, and below the throne appear a globule and a monogram serving as mint control marks identifying the Sardis issue. The composition follows the canonical reverse type established for Alexander III's imperial coinage. |
