| Obverse description | Youthful heroic head of Heracles facing right, wearing the Nemean lion-skin headdress, the scalp drawn over the crown with the beast's jaws framing the face and its forepaws knotted at the neck. The portrait is rendered in high relief with finely modelled facial features, curling locks emerging beneath the pelt, and a naturalistic treatment of musculature characteristic of late Classical Macedonian die-cutting. The field is plain and the design is contained within a dotted border. |
