His outstretched right hand supports an eagle with closed wings, while his left hand firmly grasps a long sceptre. The Greek legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs along the right field, reading from top to bottom. A monogram control mark appears in the left field. The composition follows the canonical reverse type established for Alexander III tetradrachms throughout the Macedonian empire. |
