| Beschrijving keerzijde | Zeus Aetophoros enthroned left on a high-backed throne with detailed ornamentation, his upper body nude and lower body draped, holding a long sceptre in his left hand and extending a eagle (aetos) alighting on his outstretched right hand. The throne is rendered with beaded legs resting on a dotted groundline. The Greek legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs vertically along the right field. A symbol or control mark appears in the left field below the eagle. The overall composition is majestic and well-executed, consistent with the canonical Alexander tetradrachm type established at Amphipolis. |
