正面描述 Youthful bare bust of the hero Heracles facing right, depicted beardless with idealized features rendered in fine Hellenistic style. The head is clad in the Nemean lion skin headdress, with the scalp drawn over the crown and the lion's forepaws knotted at the throat. The finely modelled curls of Heracles' hair are visible beneath the pelt, and the ear is distinctly articulated. The overall portrait conveys vigorous, heroic youth and is widely understood as an idealized likeness of Alexander III himself.

背面描述 Zeus Aetophoros enthroned left on a backless throne, his upper body nude and his lower body draped. His outstretched right hand supports an eagle with closed wings, while his left hand holds a long sceptre resting against his shoulder. A pentagram control mark appears in the left field. The Greek legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs vertically in the right field, identifying the coin as issued in the name of Alexander.
