Reverse description A four-horse chariot (quadriga) advances at speed toward the left, driven by a charioteer who holds the reins and a kentron (goad); the composition is rendered in dynamic style. A triskeles symbol occupies the upper field above the quadriga. The ethnic legend ΣΥΡΑΚΟΣΙΩΝ, identifying the issuing city of Syracuse, appears in the lower field or exergue, accompanied by an additional control letter or magistrate's monogram. The entire design is enclosed within a dotted border, consistent with Syracusan tetradrachm coinage of the Agathokles period.
