| Obverse description | Facing left, the veiled head of Persephone (or Arethusa) is depicted at centre, adorned with a wreath of corn ears and a pearl necklace, rendered in the refined late Classical Syracusan style. Three dolphins are arranged symmetrically in the surrounding field, a characteristic motif of Syracusan coinage. A control letter or monogram appears below the neck truncation. The portrait exhibits fine engraving with detailed hair and facial features consistent with the workshop tradition of late fourth-century Syracuse. |

A triskeles symbol occupies the upper field above the quadriga. The ethnic legend ΣΥΡΑΚΟΣΙΩΝ, identifying the issuing city of Syracuse, appears in the lower field or exergue, accompanied by an additional control letter or magistrate's monogram. The entire design is enclosed within a dotted border, consistent with Syracusan tetradrachm coinage of the Agathokles period. |
