| 背面描述 | Dionysos standing in three-quarter view to the left, his himation draped and wrapped around his extended left arm, holding a bunch of grapes in his right hand and narthex stalks in his left. The reverse field carries the ethnic legend ΜΑΡΩΝΙΤΩΝ and the theophoric dedication ΔΙΟΝΥΣΟΥ ΣΩΤΗΡΟΣ, identifying the god as Saviour, arranged in the field around the standing figure. The composition is characteristic of the late Hellenistic civic coinage of Maroneia in Thrace. |

Maroneia's silver tetradrachms of this type were struck following the Roman reorganization of Macedonia in 148–146 BC, when the region was carved into four administrative districts. Maroneia, a Thracian coastal city with a wine culture stretching back to the sixth century, retained enough autonomy to continue civic coinage — a privilege not universally extended across the region.
SNG Copenhagen 638 places this piece within a well-documented series, though die studies by Schönert-Geiss remain the authoritative reference for sequencing within the type.
