正面描述 Prancing horse advancing to the right within a dotted border, depicted with fine naturalistic detail. Above the horse's back, a kantharos (wine cup) is prominently placed in the upper field. The partial ethnic legend ΜΑΡΩ appears arranged around the kantharos in the upper portion of the field, identifying the issuing city of Maroneia. The composition reflects the city's association with Dionysiac imagery and the Thracian wine trade. The style is characteristic of northern Greek Thracian coinage of the late fifth century BC.

附加信息

Maroneia, a Thracian coastal settlement with deep Chian colonial roots, built its early monetary identity almost entirely on wine — the city's vineyards were among the most celebrated in the Aegean world, and Homeric tradition had already immortalized the potency of Maroneian wine centuries before this coin was struck. The tetradrachm series of this period reflects a mint operating with genuine autonomy during a window between Persian pressure and Macedonian encroachment.

Schönert-Geiss remains the definitive die study for Maroneian coinage; the #92 classification places this piece within a tightly sequenced emission group, cross-referenced against Spencer-Church #104.
