| Beschrijving voorzijde | Laureate head of Apollo facing left, rendered in fine Hellenistic style with flowing, wavy hair adorned with a laurel wreath. The portrait displays a youthful, idealized effigy with smooth facial features characteristic of late Hellenistic die engraving. The hair falls in thick, deeply cut locks behind the neck, giving the portrait a sense of dynamic naturalism. The field is plain with no visible legends or symbols. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Struck at Alexandria Troas — a city in the Troad region of northwestern Asia Minor, not to be confused with Ptolemaic Alexandria in Egypt — these coins were issued under the authority of the city's own magistrates during a period when the region nominally fell within the Attalid sphere following Rome's settlement after Magnesia in 188 BC. The terminal date of 133 BC corresponds precisely to Attalus III's death and his bequest of Pergamon to Rome, after which civic coinage across the region underwent significant reorganization.
