| Obverse description | Facing head of Helios, rendered in three-quarter view turned slightly to the right, with flowing wavy hair radiating outward from the crown in the characteristic solar guise of the god. The face is rendered with fine archaic-to-early classical naturalism, featuring large almond-shaped eyes, a straight nose, and slightly parted lips. The hair is depicted in loose, undulating locks framing the face on either side, with the overall composition filling the flan. No legend appears on the obverse; the design relies entirely on the powerful frontal effigy as the identifying type of early Rhodian coinage. |
