Reverse description A large incuse square is divided into four quadrants by a raised linear cross, forming a recessed mill-sail pattern. At the centre of the square, a grapevine with spreading tendrils and clusters of grapes is depicted in low relief, symbolising the city's renowned wine production. The ethnic legend ΜΕΝΔΑΙΟΝ is distributed across the four outer corners of the incuse square, one or two letters per quadrant, reading in Greek script. The overall composition reflects the characteristic Macedonian city-coinage style of the early classical period.
