| Reverse description | Two eagles stand facing left, jointly clutching the carcass of a dead hare in their talons, a celebrated heraldic emblem of Akragas. The nearer eagle is depicted with wings folded and head raised proudly, while the eagle behind it spreads its wings fully and bends its head downward toward the prey. Behind the group, a bull's head is shown in left profile, serving as an additional civic symbol in the field. The composition is rendered with masterful naturalistic detail, reflecting the finest achievements of late fifth-century BCE Sicilian die engraving. |
