Obverse description Male youth, identified as the local hero or river god Krimisos, depicted nude and advancing to the right, grappling with or hunting a wild boar; the figure is rendered in a dynamic, energetic pose characteristic of late fifth-century Sicilian die engraving. The legend ΕΓΕΣΤΑΙΩΝ appears vertically in the left field. The flan is irregular, as typical of hammered Sicilian coinage of this period.
