| Beschrijving keerzijde | A date palm tree rendered in high relief dominates the entire reverse field, its fronds spreading gracefully to fill the coin's flan — a quintessential Punic symbol evoking the Phoenician homeland and fertility. Two clusters of dates hang from the lower fronds on either side of the trunk, depicted with careful naturalistic detail. The Phoenician legend 𐤌𐤇𐤍𐤕 is divided into two groups of characters, one to the left and one to the right of the trunk in the lower field, read as the word meaning 'camp' or interpreted as a military or administrative designation. The flat exergual line anchors the composition, and the field is otherwise unadorned. The bold, schematic rendering of the palm reflects the distinctly Semitic artistic identity asserting itself within a Greek coin format. |
