Obverse description Janiform double head in archaic style: to the left, a laureate and bearded head of Zeus facing left, and to the right, a diademed head of Hera facing right, the two effigies conjoined at the neck to form the characteristic Tenedian janiform type. The contrasting attributes of the two deities — the laurel wreath of Zeus and the diadem of Hera — are rendered with careful detail. The overall composition reflects the long-standing civic iconographic tradition of Tenedos, which employed this distinctive janiform obverse type throughout its coinage.
