Obverse description Bust of the city-goddess Cyrene facing right, wearing a stephane and a long chiton, seated upon a diphros (backless stool); her right hand extends forward toward a stalk of silphium, the emblematic plant of the city, while behind her a silphium fruit is depicted in the field. The rendering reflects the archaic Greek style, with a frontal eye set within a profile face and bold, rounded modeling of the features. No legend appears in the field.
