背面描述 The reverse presents Dionysos as a full-length standing figure, nude, turned to the left, with his chlamys draped over his raised left arm. In his extended right hand he holds a bunch of grapes, while his left hand grasps a thyrsus of narthex stalks. At his feet to the left appears the monogram ΠΟ, and to the right the letters ΛΕ, likely denoting magistrates or civic officials. The encircling legend ΔΙΟΝΥΣΟΥ ΣΩΤΗΡΟΣ ΜΑΡΩΝΙΤΩΝ, meaning 'of Dionysos Soter of the Maronites,' identifies the issuing city and the divine epithet of the patron deity.

附加信息

Maroneia, a Thracian coastal city with deep ties to the wine trade, produced this long-running tetradrachm series across nearly a century and a half of Macedonian and later Roman provincial oversight. The type persisted well past most comparable civic coinages in the region, likely because Maroneia retained enough commercial autonomy — and enough traffic through its port — to sustain local silver striking even as neighboring mints fell silent under Roman reorganization after 148 BC.

SNG Copenhagen 640 places this piece within the later phase of the series, when magistrate names began appearing with greater regularity in the coin's inscription field.
