Obverse description Facing three-quarter bust of Helios turned slightly to right, rendered in high relief with fine artistic naturalism characteristic of early Rhodian coinage. The solar deity is depicted with youthful, idealised features, his abundant curling hair radiating outward in flame-like locks symbolising solar rays. The composition fills the flan with commanding presence, the face modelled with careful attention to facial planes and expression. No legend or inscription appears on the obverse; the image of Helios alone serves as the primary identifying device. The style reflects the accomplished hand of a skilled engraver working in the finest tradition of late fifth- to early fourth-century BC Greek die-cutting.
