Obverse description Facing right, the wreathed head of Tanit-Persephone rendered in fine Sicilian style, her hair elaborately coiffed and bound with a wreath of grain leaves, adorned with a triple-pendant earring and pearl necklace. A thymiaterion (incense burner) is positioned to the right of the portrait in the field. The portrait reflects strong influence from the Syracusan coinage tradition, exhibiting the graceful, idealised facial features characteristic of the late fifth- to early fourth-century Sicilian school of die engraving.
