Obverse description Large bearded head of Dionysos facing left, rendered in high relief in the archaic style. The deity's flowing locks and full beard are depicted with fine engraved detail, and the head is crowned with an ivy wreath adorned with berries. The portrait occupies nearly the entire flan, with the broad, slightly idealized facial features characteristic of late archaic Thasian coinage. No legend or inscription appears in the field.
