| Description du revers | A crab is depicted frontally in high relief, centered on the flan, with the carapace rendered in precise detail and all ten legs splayed symmetrically to either side. The claws are raised and outward-facing, framing the broad, rounded body. Below the crab, finely incised lines suggest a ground line or waves, a common convention in Sicilian coinage of the period. The reverse field is otherwise plain, allowing the naturalistic rendering of the crustacean to dominate the design. The type closely mirrors the crab motif employed on contemporary Akragantine coinage, underscoring the cultural and commercial interconnections of western Sicily. |
