| Beschrijving voorzijde | Head of Tanit (or Persephone/Kore) facing three-quarters left, rendered in fine Sicilian Greek style. The hair is elaborately dressed, drawn back in undulating waves and secured with a wreath of grain or leaves, with loose tresses falling behind the neck. A pendant drop earring hangs from the visible ear, and a beaded necklace adorns the throat. The modelling of the facial features is of high artistic quality, reflecting the strong influence of the Syracusan engraving tradition on Punic coinage of this period. |
