正面描述 Helmeted head of Athena facing right, wearing an elaborate triple-crested Attic helmet with a tendril motif at the nape; the helmet bowl is adorned with a Pegasus in relief, and five horse protomes rise above the visor. The goddess is further depicted with a pendant earring and beaded necklace, rendered in the fine style characteristic of New Style Athenian coinage.

附加信息

By the mid-second century BC, Athens had largely lost political relevance but retained enormous commercial reach, and the New Style tetradrachm series — introduced around 165 BC — was engineered precisely to serve that mercantile function. The coinage was administered by annually rotating magistrates whose names appear on each issue, making these among the most precisely datable coins in the Greek world. The 162/1 BC issue falls within the earliest years of the series, when the new monetary infrastructure was still being established.

The SNG Copenhagen 131 reference places this among a well-documented but not abundant early group.
