Obverse description Youthful head of Dionysos facing right, the hair wreathed with ivy leaves and a flower, arranged in a rolled coiffure from which a characteristic spiral lock descends upon the neck and shoulders. The portrait is rendered in the Hellenistic style, conveying the god's sensuous and divine nature through fine engraving typical of Ionian civic coinage of the period.
