| Obverse description | Central motif of the silphium plant rendered in high relief, displaying the characteristic tripartite stem rising from a broad root base, with three pairs of spreading branches terminating in rounded seed-pods or flower heads to either side. The plant, the renowned medicinal export of Kyrene, is depicted frontally and fills the entire field in a bold, archaic style. The irregular flan edge is visible, consistent with hammered coinage of the period. No legend appears on this face. |
