| Reverse description | The nymph Himera stands facing, slightly turned to the right, draped in a chiton and wearing a fillet in her hair; she extends her left arm forward holding a phiale, while her right arm is raised. To her left stands a decorated altar, and beside it stylized plant or flame motifs. To her right, a small satyr crouches while being attacked or approached by an eagle, referencing a local mythological narrative. Above the figure, a leaf-shaped object floats in the upper field. The scene is rendered with exceptional detail and dynamism characteristic of the finest Sicilian coinage of the Classical period. |
