Reverse description A winged Nike figure strides to the left in three-quarter view, draped in a flowing chiton, her large spread wings rendered in meticulous feather detail. She extends her right arm forward, holding an olive wreath, while her left arm is drawn back at her side. The legend KATANAION is disposed around the field in Greek characters, with letters arranged around the periphery of the design. The composition is executed in the refined early Classical manner, with elegant contrapposto and naturalistic drapery typical of the finest Sicilian die-cutters of the period.
