Obverse description Facing head of Helios, the sun god, rendered in high relief with a three-quarter turn slightly to the right. The deity's youthful, idealized visage is framed by thick, radially arranged wavy locks of hair spreading symmetrically around the face, evoking the solar rays characteristic of Helios iconography. The modeling is exceptionally fine, displaying the confident naturalism of early fourth-century BC Rhodian die-cutting, with softly rendered facial features including almond-shaped eyes, a straight nose, and slightly parted lips. The field is plain, with the broad flan allowing the portrait to dominate the entire obverse surface.
