Beschrijving voorzijde	A powerful lion, rendered in archaic Greek style, leaps rightward upon a bull whose head is raised and turned to the left in a gesture of struggle; the predatory scene is depicted with vigorous naturalism characteristic of northern Greek coinage of the Classical period. The lion's musculature and claws are rendered with considerable detail, emphasizing the ferocity of the attack. In the exergue below the principal design, a fish is depicted facing left, serving as a secondary device associated with the coastal city of Akanthos. The composition fills the broad flan in a dynamic, asymmetric arrangement. The overall style reflects the accomplished die-cutting tradition of the Macedonian region during the fifth century BC.
