| Beschrijving voorzijde | A lion depicted in profile advancing to the left, rendered in bold high relief with pronounced musculature and a dramatically stylized mane composed of radiating incised striations. The animal's head is turned to face the viewer frontally, displaying an open mouth with teeth visible, imparting an expression of fierce vitality characteristic of archaic Thraco-Macedonian coinage. | Beschrijving keerzijde | A deeply recessed square incuse punch dominates the reverse, subdivided by raised internal borders into a quadripartite or framed panel arrangement, characteristic of early archaic Greek hammered coinage technique. Within the incuse square, an eagle is depicted in relief, shown with wings spread and body oriented to the right in a heraldic posture, rendered with schematic feather detail. The surrounding incuse field exhibits a rough, granular texture resulting from the hammer strike of the die. No inscription or legend appears on the reverse. The overall composition is consistent with the archaic incuse reverse tradition prevalent in Thraco-Macedonian silver coinage of the late sixth to early fifth century BC. |
